WIP, stash

Yep, as a relatively new sewer, my stash is still a work-in-progress. And my stash has gotten some really good work done, this week!

A local fabric store is sadly, going out of business, so I took the opportunity to buy a bunch of fat quarters to add to my stash.

A pink/green/brown quilt is definitely in my future. I love this color palate.

Possibly a "shades of gray" quilt is in my future too. I will try really hard not to include red as my accent color. I love red, but I need to be bold and pick something different.

Argh, matey, I found me some pirate fabric. This will make a great baby boy quilt.

Isn't this animal print great? What interesting colors. I have no idea what to make with it yet. Maybe a bag.

Some fun kid prints and random prints that I couldn't resist.

So what have I really done? I've pieced most of my Thomas quilt and got one more row of my Dead Simple Quilt done.

Up Next:
Tree Pants QAL (Although, I doubt I'll finish in time for any prizes)
Dr Seuss quilt
BOM October block

Yay, it's Wednesday

That means it's time for another post.

Starting out with my garden...you know it's been a weird growing season when you get an entire bag of green tomatoes! I hope that they turn red, but if not, I'll make salsa verde. There are strong winds and frost heading our way so I thought it was time to pick what was out there. This weekend I'll be cutting back the beds, along with making applesauce and salsa. Sounds good to me.

I've completely cut out my Thomas quilt...all 187 squares and meticulously arranged them. I think with a red border, this quilt is gonna be awesome. I'm sure my toddler will flip out over it. Nothing is more rewarding.

I've completed three rows of my Dead Simple quilt. The picture does not do the colors justice. I'm really liking it. And I found some wild fabric for the back that matches perfectly. I can't wait till this is done.

Yes, I did. I've purchased a bunch of fabric this week. I bought the entire collection of Peacock Lane and most of Little Apples. Both were on sale this week and I couldn't resist. It seems that I see these great quilts made with stunning fabrics and then I can't get them anywhere. So I took the plunge. I am going to make a tumbler quilt with the Peacock Lane and a baby quilt for my BFF with the Little Apples. Super excited.

It's Only Saturday

...and I feel like I've gotten so much done! It's a two post week, shocking I know.

So first up...I finished my Summer Sampler, yay. I looooove how it turned out.

Next, look what came in the mail:

This totally inspired me to get things going with the bee I'm organizing for the guild. At the meeting we had a couple of new members which was great. They are joining the bee and with some of the other regulars, I think I'll be able to get 12 members for a years worth of blocks. Super excited, I even got our flickr group started.

Yesterday I cut up 186, 4" blocks for the Thomas quilt. Hopefully, I'll figure out how I want to arrange them. Of course they can't be random, way too scary for me.

I also sewed one row of my Dead Simple quilt so that I could get some dimensions for backing fabric. A local children's clothing designer is having a factory sale and they always sell their fabric for super cheap so I'm hoping to find something that matches.

Went apple picking today...gotta make some sauce this week. These lovely apples sure are tasty.

Making progress on this Christmas sock for the little one to match the older one's. Baseball in the postseason has led to some knitting, it keeps the nervous hands busy.

Looking forward to showing you more progress on Wednesday.

What day is it again?

Oh yeah, it's Wednesday! I kinda feel like WIP Wednesday's is helping me limp along in the blogging world. Thank goodness.

But really, I do have a lot of projects I'm thinking about and working on. I made a trip to the fabric store today so that will help get me moving on a few projects. I bought fabric for the Thomas quilt I'm going to make for my toddler and some "Ready Set Snow" for the No Excuses sew along. I'm going to make "tree pants." These are quilts almost in progress...stay tuned!

I also worked on my layout for the Dead Simple QAL. Super excited to start sewing and the choose a background fabric this weekend.

I finished this play mat in time for the wedding. It sure turned out cute! I did have to cut the pocket down a little bit to get it to fit properly so that it can be rolled up.

Tomorrow night is the guild meeting and I'm hoping to finalize some details for the Bee I am organizing.

WIP Wednesdays

It's time for another update on what I've been working on. Overall, not too much.

I'm still binding my Summer Sampler, although I only have one more corner to go! It's really looking amazing, I can't stand it. I'm not sure this is going in the basement right away, at least not until I finish another quilt that I can use in the family room.

So here's what's hot on the press...the train play mat. I'm trying to finish it by Saturday for my SIL's wedding. I made a "pocket panel" to hold trains and I need to position it between the two layers of the mat. Stupid me wasn't thinking about how I'll need to sew right sides together and sandwich the pocket panel in between, so I made it the same width as the mat. Ugh, I unfortunately can't just sew around the edge for fear I'd sew through the pocket panel. I want it to be more of a flap and if I catch the edge it won't flap. That means I'll probably have to just sew 3 sides and then topstitch the three layers together. I sure hope it turns out ok. Wish me luck!
