WIP AND A FINISH

Yay, I finished this quilt over the weekend. I am so happy with it, it's washed and ready for cold weather. Of course it's going to be in the 90's for the next few days. Ha!

This weekend we had our kick-off for the Mod in Milwaukee challenge. We had a great crowd for Allison's talk about fabric design. It was so interesting and inspiring. I talked about the Milwaukee Modern Quilt Guild and our first challenge using her My Fair Milwaukee Fabric Collection. Here is a pick of me with Allison and Julie, the owner of my LQS, Patched Works

We are in the middle of a stay-cation so I've been furiously finishing bee blocks amongst trips to Chicago museums, redecorating the boys room and deciding on what to register for at QuiltCon!!

Here are two of three paper pieced blocks I finished, I have one more to go. Since we have themed the boys' room Star Wars, I have two Star Wars quilts on deck. I've got some ideas swirling in my head on how to modernize these large novelty prints.

Hope you are all having a good week. I'm linking up!

WIP AND BLOGIVERSARY

It's been a whole year since I started this blog and I thought it was time for a make-over. I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. My husband has an awesome marketing person who was willing to develop a logo for me. I can't say enough about her excellent work, she clearly understands my style.

You may also have noticed I added a "Follow Me" button so you can follow me on Pinterest, Twitter and Flickr. Next up will be a Facebook page, although FB has been annoying me lately. We shall see.

My local MQG had our monthly sew day on Saturday and boy did I get a lot done! It feels great to be so productive. I basted both my Dead Simple quilt and my latest Malka quilt. I was also able to completely quilt my Dead Simple quilt and it turned out lovely. I was inspired by another guilder to try organic wavy lines and it added SO much to this quilt. I was rather bored with this before and now I totally love it again. I'm still binding it, but here is a sneak peak.

Next week I am guest posting over at Freshly Pieced, I can hardly wait! Going to whip out some other WIP's that have dust on them and maybe start a new project.

I'm linking up for now!

Still working

I'm still working on my secret quilt. I am able to show you the pieced back I made. That smudge is a part of the secret top, I'll be able to reveal that in the future. I love how bright and colorful this quilt is. I am excited to get to quilting it!

Although I don't have much in the way of quilting to show you, I have Guild sew day this weekend, so I should have some great progress to show you next week.

I also have been working at getting things together for our first guild challenge. Super excited. Read all about it here.

TTFN, linking up!

WIP Wednesday, I'm a secret agent

That's right, I'm working on my first top secret project. I'm pattern testing so I can't show you what I'm intensely working on. It's a fabulous quilt, you are all going to want to make one! I can however, show you the fabric I'm working with. I'm mostly using the line Quilt Blocks along with different colors of Essex Linen. It's bright and cheery.

Last night was Kona Club at my LQS and I spent more than half of the gift certificate I won. Yep, half and it sure was fun. They started a new membership club where if you buy a bolt and a color card you get 20% off every single day on all Kona's. I couldn't pass that up so I am now the proud owner of my very first BOLT of ultra white fabric. How awesome is that? I feel like a real quilter now, I own a bolt. I know, I'm silly.

I also picked up a stack of the 28 new solids, I have a rainbow quilt idea going through my head, we shall see. Our color this quarter was green, I love green, super happy with this quarters' stack. And I also picked up these solids (and a little bit of Parson Gray) which I now need to label. I've decided to be super organized about my solids so I don't buy doubles and label them after I buy them. In addition to a little sewing this afternoon, I have some labeling to do. My librarian side is shining through.

In the works is a challenge for my local MQG. We have a fabric designer in our group who designed fabric with a Milwaukee theme, called My Fair Milwaukee. It's gorgeous so we're having a challenge to create something amazing using her fabric. It's called Mod in Milwaukee Challenge and we are finishing up all of our publicity materials, but we're having a kick off even at our LQS with the designer. Super excited. I'll post all the details soon.

I'm linking up!
